Welcome to ODU Computational Combustion Lab

The Computational Combustion Lab (CCL) at Old Dominion University specializes in advanced computational fluid dynamics, high-performance computing, and high-fidelity multiphysics modeling for reacting flows. Our research focuses on understanding and optimizing complex propulsion and energy systems, ranging from traditional internal combustion engines and gas turbines to cutting-edge rotating detonation and hypersonic propulsion systems. By integrating traditional CFD with modern machine learning and artificial intelligence frameworks, we aim to push the boundaries of modern combustion-powered engineering.

Computational Combustion Lab (CCL) in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at Old Dominion University (ODU) seeks to recruit multiple Ph.D. students to work high-speed propulsion and combustion control research. Major research interests of our research group include high-performance computing (HPC), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), high-fidelity multi-physics modeling, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to advance the modern combustion-powered system in a broad range of land-based and aerospace propulsion systems, such as internal combustion engines, detonation engines, and ramjet/scramjet systems.
