If you want a heavy-duty towing solution for your vintage Ford F150 that can handle serious tongue weight and gross trailer loads, choose Sawyer Auto Trailer Hitch Rear; if you need a precise electrical replacement connector specifically for a 2020-2022 Chevy Silverado or Sierra, choose NNISIT 13526856. These two items solve completely different problems on the road, and picking the wrong one leaves you stranded at the loading dock with no way to hook up. I have analyzed the technical specifications of both units to help you decide which one actually belongs in your garage, keeping in mind how critical these parts are when you are out tailgating with friends or hauling gear across the country.
• The trade-off is that it requires drilling during installation and is strictly limited to 1980-1996 Ford F150 models. This pick is for owners of older Ford trucks who need a robust Class IV hitch for serious towing duties.
• NNISIT 13526856: Its primary advantage is its exact fitment for GM vehicles, designed to replace OEM electrical receptacles without any modifications or complex wiring changes. The limitation is that it is only an electrical component, not a structural towing device, and fits only specific model years from 2020 to 2022. This pick is for modern Chevy and GMC owners who just need their trailer lights working again.
The Sawyer Auto Trailer Hitch Rear is built for the person who treats their truck as a workhorse first and a daily driver second. If you own one of these classic trucks and plan to tow anything substantial, this hitch offers a level of durability that exceeds standard factory expectations. The manufacturer states they use better, more durable materials than those provided by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), which suggests a longer lifespan under stress.
What makes this product stand out in the spec sheet is the sheer weight rating. That is a significant jump, allowing you to haul large travel trailers, horse boxes, or heavy utility trailers that would overwhelm lesser hitches. For anyone using their F150 for tailgating, this means you can bring the full setup—camping chairs, grills, generators, and even a small boat—without worrying about the rear end sagging or the hitch failing.
Installation is straightforward for a DIYer but does require some physical effort. The data notes that drilling is required, though the install time is estimated at just 30 minutes. This implies that while you will need a drill and some basic tools, the process is direct and doesn't involve hours of welding or fabricating custom brackets. The product is marketed as a "Direct Replacement" that installs seamlessly like the factory unit, provided you have the right equipment. If you are looking for a part that guarantees reliability through rigorous road testing and inspection, this is the choice for you. However, if you do not own a 1980-1996 Ford F150, this part is useless to you regardless of how good the specs look.

The NNISIT 13526856 serves a very different audience entirely. This is not a structural frame component; it is a specific electrical plug and receptacle module. It is engineered exclusively for the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra models produced between 2020 and 2022. If your truck's trailer wiring harness has failed, corroded, or broken, this unit is the targeted fix. The design intent here is precision matching to OEM specifications, ensuring that the new plug fits perfectly into the existing mounting point without needing to alter the vehicle body or modify the wiring harness.
The standout feature in the NNISIT documentation is the emphasis on ease of maintenance and reduced downtime. Because it is a direct replacement part that requires no modifications, you can swap out the old, faulty unit and get back on the road quickly. This is crucial for drivers who rely on their trucks for daily work or weekend trips where trailer lighting is mandatory for safety. The product comes as a single unit, simplifying the inventory check and ensuring you have exactly what is needed to restore functionality. The brand explicitly mentions that their engineering team is available for technical guidance, which adds a layer of support for those who might be unsure about connecting the electrical contacts correctly.
This product is strictly for electrical connectivity. It does not add towing capacity, nor does it provide a receiver tube for a ball mount. You cannot use this part to tow a heavy load if you don't already have a hitch installed; it simply ensures the lights on your trailer turn on when you brake or signal. If you are shopping for a part to fix a broken taillight circuit on a newer GM truck, this is likely the exact component you need. However, if you are trying to upgrade your towing capabilities or find a hitch for an older vehicle, this part will not serve any purpose. It is a surgical repair tool for the electrical system of a 2020-2022 Silverado or Sierra.

• Best for Direct Fitment with Minimal Modification → NNISIT 13526856, requiring no modifications to the vehicle body or wiring.
• Best for Classic Truck Restoration or Upgrade → Sawyer Auto Trailer Hitch Rear, tailored for 1980-1996 Ford F150s with OE standards.
• Best for Quick Downtime Reduction → NNISIT 13526856, allowing for straightforward installation to get lights working immediately.
• Best for Maximum Load Safety → Sawyer Auto Trailer Hitch Rear, featuring rigorous road testing and superior material construction compared to OEM.
• Best for Simple Plug-and-Play Replacement → NNISIT 13526856, replacing a single defective electrical receptacle unit.
• Best for Tailgating Setup → Sawyer Auto Trailer Hitch Rear, providing the structural foundation needed to secure a heavy tailgate trailer or campers.
In my opinion, the decision comes down to whether you need to move mass or just connect lights. If you are planning a big tailgating event where you need to haul a substantial amount of gear, food, and equipment behind your truck, the Sawyer Auto Trailer Hitch Rear is the only logical choice. On the other hand, if your 2020-2022 Silverado has a blown trailer light connector, buying a hitch would be a waste of money; you need the NNISIT 13526856 to get your signals working safely. I would buy the Sawyer Auto unit if I owned an older F150 because it fundamentally upgrades the truck's capability, whereas the NNISIT part is merely a necessary maintenance fix for a specific electrical failure.
It will not fit newer generations of the F150.
The product information lists it as a single unit receptacle module compatible with 2020-2022 vehicles. It replaces the electrical connection point, but you should verify if your vehicle requires additional harness components separately.
No, the specifications clearly state that drilling is required for installation, though the process is estimated to take about 30 minutes.
No, this is an electrical component that replaces a receptacle. It restores lighting functionality but does not change the structural towing capacity of the vehicle.
