If you open a Realize assignment within your LMS and see a blank page or a Savvas login screen, your browser is likely blocking third-party cookies. Because Savvas content loads inside an iframe within your LMS, third-party cookies must be allowed for it to display correctly. Please check your browser settings and turn on third-party cookies.
If browser settings can't be changed for you or your students, you can work around this by setting the assignment to open in a new tab instead. Check the bottom of this page for instructions on how to do this.
Below is an example of what this looks like in Canvas LMS. If you use a different LMS, your interface might differ slightly, but the underlying issue and fix are exactly the same.
You have two options:
Allow all third-party applications to use cookies (easiest).
Only allow specific websites like Savvas Realize (most secure).
Follow the directions from the Google Support site.
Follow the directions here from the Google Support site. Add the following two sites:
sso.rumba.pk12ls.com
[*.]savvasrealize.com
Note: Make sure you also add your LMSs site as well to the list.
In Firefox, you will need to allow third-party cookies. We also recommend you turn off Enhanced Settings.
To change your setting, simply go to the Settings page.
Click on Privacy & Security page.
Change the browser privacy from Standard or Strict to Custom. Uncheck Cookies to allow third party cookies.
Next, turn off Enhanced Tracking Protection. To start, click on the shield in the URL window.
Turn off Enhanced Tracking Protection for this site.
Firefox will reload the browser pages. You should now be able to access all Savvas content.
Safari, unlike Chrome, blocks all third-party cookies. To use Safari you will need to turn off "Prevent Cross Site Tracking."
Open Safari Preferences, by clicking on the `Safari` menu on the left of the menu bar, and clicking on `Preferences`, or by pressing `⌘,`.
Click on the `Privacy` tab.
Uncheck the `Prevent cross-site tracking` check box.
Close the Preferences window.
While the exact menu names vary by platform, most major LMSs offer a setting to launch embedded tools in a new window. Below is how to enable this in Canvas—apply the same concept in your own LMS by locating your assignment settings:
Canvas: Enable Load This Tool In A New Tab
Schoology / Brightspace / Buzz / Blackboard: Look for Open in new window or Display in new tab
When a student opens the assignment in Canvas they will see the Load Assignment button which will open a new browser tab.
