With an honest passion, compassion, and simplicity at its core, Save the Children has worked in 19 states of India, as of December 2018, with many programmes designed for this outreach towards India’s underprivileged children. They strive to ensure that the children of India not only live a day-to-day existence but also flourish and continue having a hale and hearty existence. Even in the event of disasters, they are always among the first few to act in response, providing life-saving humanitarian assistance to the children and their families; staying put in disaster-struck areas for a long time taking care of the disaster-stricken people with rehabilitation and livelihood support.
Save the Children - India's leading NGO immediately responded to the situation through its COVID relief program by providing support, including medical and other vital supplies as well as emergency response training to the most vulnerable areas and communities impacted by the coronavirus. They still continue to distribute hygiene supplies along with spreading important health information and awareness on how to stay safe and prevent the spread of infection. The current scenario also demands us to take action at personal levels by becoming a volunteer for NGO like Save the Children.
They continue to support partners and community mobilisers to build awareness about social distancing, preventive and precautionary measures through door-to-door visits, conference calls, and WhatsApp messages on groups. Community hotspots are also being established for risk assessment. A national response plan has been drafted to bring about equality in response to the communication, planning, impact, and delivery across many states of India. However, response operations are conducted only in coordination with local governments and district level agencies.
NGOs are able to better channelise the efforts of several people through volunteers to accomplish a goal. With the help of a volunteer for NGO, Save the Children have been able to provide some relief to families and children affected by the virus along with those who are most susceptible to it. Through their COVID relief program, Save the Children is building a child-centric response and standing in unison with families who are struggling to survive amidst the COVID-19 crisis.
Save the Children is also in conversation with the national and a few state governments to extend their full support as and when required. The plan of operation will be achieved.
