This project derived from a house study in that I had to tie architectural concepts to create abstract representations of the space. The house is Lina Bo Bardi's Casa De Vidro, and the words I had to tie to the house were volume, size, contour, and edge. I had to research the house's layout, history, and intentions and tie our words to the space to conceptualize how our words tie to architecture as a form. I first worked on the drawings and then made corresponding models later on.Â

Casa de Vidrio, or the Glass House, was created by Lina Bo Bardi. Completed in 1951, it is situated in Morumbi, a Sao Paulo, Brazil, neighborhood. The house is 7,000 square meters in area and is a product of the Modern Movement while integrating vernacular architecture. Bardi's vision of this project was to intertwine with nature to create harmony. The house is intended to create a space where cultures can coexist.
Volume: the exterior set of a structure that encloses an interior space. It contains space or mass.
Size: The relationship between an area occupied by one shape and that of the area occupied by another. Also, the comparison of an object concerning another object.
Contour: The line within a landscape that the structure is placed on. Contour in a building can be defined through internal spaces to eternal—the transition from space to space.
Edge: Border of elements, function, people. Visual lines and objects that encompass a space while also being confined. The corner where two objects meet.
