Note. ibus-table-sasankadeva is apparently incompatible with Wayland in Gnome version 40 onwards; so it behaves a bit weird in Ubuntu 22.04. But it works perfectly fine in any browser-based word processor like Google Docs or MS Word.
To use it offline, e.g., in GEdit or Libre Office, change the Gnome configuration a bit back to X11. Check out this procedure. https://askubuntu.com/questions/1428525/how-to-permanetely-disable-wayland
Edit the configuration file,
sudo nano /etc/gdm3/custom.conf
to uncomment [remove # from] the line containing
WaylandEnable=false
save the file (ctrl + x and after that y ('yes') or another key for non-English and finally Enter) and reboot.
