Welcome to SAS A-Squadron UK

Please feel free to look around or click on the discord link below to get started

Formed from members of previous units, SAS A-Squadron UK was formed at the start of 2023 to provide one thing, Authentic Milsim!

We formed the unit with the idea of making a unit think on its feet, rather than a team hive mind, we wanted players to be able to work together with skills of their own, which provided us with a core of players that were already well trained. Now we seek to build on this with all the lessons learned in the previous Milsim unit,

Training in any Milsim is important, we focus on the fundamental skills needed for each trooper to work well with the team and be independent in the field if needed. We train hard, with everyone working together to grow, learn and evolve into an effective fighting force.

We will always be out-gunned, out-manned, out-positioned, that is why we have a crack training team of Special Forces spearheading it.

How do i join?

It's really easy, just click on the discord link on the home page and it will take you straight to our discord, where you can complete your application process by looking at the how to join SAS - A Squad channel. A bot linked to our discord will get you started with completing the application form. Be aware we only take 18 and over, and not everyone gets accepted and even if you do get passed, you have to then pass Phase 1 Training.

If you join you will be welcome by brothers, whom you will not meet anywhere else and be a part of a small yet lethal force of troopers who are PVP/PVE badasses.

what are the requirements to join SAS A-Squadron?

We only ask for a few things:

1) You must be able to speak English "reasonably" well. We are not English teachers, and we have many people from different countries around the world whose first language is not English. We do not expect 100% fluency, Even our American members struggle with the language too, lol.

2) You must have a working Microphone

3) You must be able to attend operations and training

4) You must be 18 or over

We only accept the best, if you quit we have seen all we need from you. We care about quality not quantity.

what happens during induction?

The induction is just a simple interview to set you up and help clarify any rules or questions you may have. We explain what is expected of you as a recruit, we explain our training schedule and help you set up training when you are ready to begin. We also give you a quick guide to our private Discord server and all the cool things it has to offer!

what if i'm nervous about speaking to people?

Many in SAS were the same as you before they joined and now they are always interacting and chatting with other members, if you are nervous then please make the recruitment team aware of it so we can adapt the induction to be more relaxing for you. Confidence is something we have engendered from the creation of SAS, we are here to help you enjoy the game and the community.

when do i start training?

Training starts every Wednesday at 1900Hrs GMT, which is 7pm UK time. This is when you will do Phase 1Training to familiarize yourself with our mods, and adjust your keybinds to ensure that you are ready to jump into a mission with a solid understanding of how your gear works and what is expected of you as a new recruit. You will be taught everything you need to know, and even have a chance to try out everything on our very own training server.

how long does phase 1 training take?

This may vary depending on if you have previous experience or familiarity with the mods and tactics we use. Phase one training usually takes around 2 Wednesday sessions, which is 6 hours, for new people with no experience! Obviously, your time needed for training may vary!

what if I dont have any of the dlc's for arma 3?

Don't worry, we don't expect any of our members to pay for DLC. Arma 3 DLC is great....most of them anyways. We do however strongly suggest APEX DLC as the only mandatory one you will need as it supplies the most gear and maps. Other DLCs can either be bought for you by the Squad or we can work around that issue from the start.

do i get to pick my own Uniform/Gear Loadout?

Yes and No. Regular operations and training come with prescribed load-outs that contains everything you need in operations, less time spent picking gear means more time to kick ass and enjoy the Mission. However, have no fear, as some operations you will be allowed to take what ever you want from the arsenal and build your dream operator outfit.

do you follow actual Military tactics?

Yes we do! Our training was built on the works of previous and currently active military members, and it has been adapted to suit Arma 3's engine. So while training, we focus on the proven tactics and skills which will work in PVE and PVP!! Many other milsim units do not do this.

Regs and Operators?

We do things a bit differently here in SAS; we have a very simple system.

REGULARS

Everyone joins us as a REGULAR (Reg). These do not require any attendance in training except for Wednesday's exercise. These players will often be of lesser skill, usually only turning up for operations

and mandatory training. In ops, the "Regs" will get more basic objectives and tasks with more simplified objectives.

OPERATORS

Our operators are members who are at the top of the skill game and must attend all workshops unless due to reason. They often have more complex and dangerous tasks in operations. They have slightly different kits and focus on more difficult Spec Op's tactics and manoeuvres.

This is designed to encourage those wishing to grow and develop in Arma 3 Milsim to play with some of the best players in SAS, but not punish those that cannot make it to training all the time. So everyone starts in "Regs" and either earns the right to be an OPERATOR or gets asked to join the smaller team. However, it is important to note that Reg's and Op's are both on the same mission and play together all the time. It is just with differing objectives and themes.

WHat if I play games other than Arma 3?

Well, we are a primarily Arma 3 unit, focusing on Arma 3 and hopefully Arma 4, when it arrives. However, we do have regular events in other games where we play as team using skills learned in Arma 3. While Arma 3 might be intimidating at first we are confident that you will learn to love it once you start playing with SAS.
