Sarthak Laha is a Doctoral Fellow at the School of Women’s Studies, Jadavpur University, and serves as a Guest Faculty member in the Department of History at Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira, Belur Math. Born in 1998, he excelled academically, securing 85% in his secondary examination in 2014 and ranking 19th in the higher secondary examination in 2016 with a remarkable 95% score. In 2019, he graduated with honours in History from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira, earning a gold medal for his outstanding performance. He further pursued an M.A. in History at Jadavpur University, graduating with first-class honours in 2021. Sarthak qualified for the WB SET in 2020 and cleared the NTA NET twice—in September 2020 and November 2022, securing a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. In 2023, he was awarded an M.Phil. from Jadavpur University and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at the School of Women’s Studies. Sarthak has made significant contributions to academia, with numerous articles published in national and international journals and active participation in international seminars. He has edited three books and authored his first monograph, Kolkatar Jhadudar Ebang Methor Nari: Shrom, Shohor o Linga (Dhaanyamanjari, 2025). His research interests encompass women’s history, Bengal’s folk culture, and the socio-cultural history of the region. Additionally, he is actively involved with several academic magazines, further enriching his scholarly engagements.
