Sardar Ali Takkar is a renowned Pashto singer celebrated for bringing the poetry of Ghani Khan to life through his soulful voice. Trained as a mechanical engineer at the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, he unexpectedly found his calling in music after performing Ghani Khan’s verses at a college event, an experience that led to his widely acclaimed debut album. He has performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo, Norway (2014) in honor of Malala Yousafzai. Through this experience, he was able to represent Pashto culture to a global audience.
Over the decades, Takkar has earned prestigious honors, including the Pakistani Presidential Pride of Performance and the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, in recognition of his lasting impact on Pashto music and culture. Beyond the stage, he has served as an international broadcaster, hosting Pashto broadcasts for Voice of America and promoting messages of harmony, resilience, and pride among Pashtun communities worldwide.
