Counselor's Cove

Hello Sharks! My name is Karynn Athey and I am grateful for the opportunity to work with the students, families and staff at Saratoga Shores Elementary.  

I earned my undergraduate degree from Utah Valley University in Elementary Education. I spent five years as a third-grade teacher, and I loved working with my students. I saw how social-emotional needs impacted academic performance and well-being in my students, so I decided to pursue a degree in school counseling. I continued my education at Utah State University earning a graduate degree in School Counseling. After spending several years at home raising my young children, I am excited to be back in the classroom and helping students. 

I am married and have 3 children. My family and I love bike rides, hiking, camping, family movie nights, swimming and skiing/snowboarding. We love to spend our summers traveling and our favorite places to visit are McCall, Redfish Lake and the Oregon Coast.
