Magic Elevator is a structure that invites learners to explore a variety of related concepts through sound and movement.
Steps:
1. Prepare the exercise: Ensure your learners are familiar with the material you'll be focusing on. Select a piece of music for each concept you may want to explore and make sure you have a way to play it!
2. Find or clear a large space. Ask your learners to gather in one area, thereby stepping aboard your magic elevator. Welcome your students to the elevator and announce how many floors your elevator can travel to. Remind your learners that they must be still and quiet anytime they're onboard the elevator!
3. Ask your learners which floor they'd like to visit. Count together from the number of the floor the elevator is on to the floor they're traveling to.
4. When you've reached the right floor, announce what the floor is (what concept, mood, character, etc. it represents), play the matching music, and ask your learners to move around the floor accordingly.
5. When you're ready, call your learners back to the elevator.
