I am a postdoctoral researcher with the Department of Economic History at Lund University. Prior, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. My research lies at the intersection of economic history and development economics. I am interested in the long-run development of Sub-Saharan Africa, in particular, the short- and long-run implications of European imperialism for human capital and institutions.
I completed my PhD at at Eberhard-Karls-University in Tübingen, Germany, and a Double-Degree Master at Georg-August-University Göttingen, Germany (MSc Development Economics) and Stellenbosch University, South Africa (MComm Economics).
I have taught Statistics, Microeconomics and Research Methods at Erlangen as well as Development Economics and Economic History at Tübingen. In addition, I gained practical experiences at the German Chamber of Commerce in Accra, Ghana, and at UNDP in New York, USA.
