Wattles in the 1950's & 1960's was a small Semaphore station with a Up Loop, Exchange Yard (To Elsburg) and a Private Siding. The station had 28 Levers. By the late 70's, the Up Platform Loop was removed, as well as the southern crossovers. Colourlight signals were installed, and the platforms were moved southwards.

By 1970's, colourlights were installed and the lever frame reduced to 20 Levers. A Special feature was that this station could be "Switched out" and the colourlight signals would work automatically for the Up & Down Mainlines, a small white "T" would illuminate under the colourlight signal (T.W.R. regarding Automatic "T" signals would apply) indicating that the station was switched out. By the early 2000's, goods traffic had dwindled to almost nothing, and a T.C.O. would only open the station when it was necessary for a train to use the sidings. This cabin is now closed.
