This 1920's layout of Thornybush was in operation on the new deviation of the Main Line from 1919 to 1965, between Umlaas Road & Pentrich. In 1924, Standard S.A.R. Signalling was installed here, along with Ashburton & Mkondeni. Electric Train Staff was in operation during the Day, and Telegraph Orders were in use during the closed period at night, with Ashburton Station remaining open along with Umlaas Road & Pentrich. In later years, much confusion was encountered with this station name, being mistaken for Thornville on the Old Main Line & Thornwood on the New Main Line. They then decided to change the name from Thornybush to Impushini. When the New Main Line deviation was built in 1965, this line was abandoned and lifted from Mkondeni to Umlaas Road.
