This Talana Station was on the new improved alignment from Dundee to Vryheid which was completed in the late 1960's. The Lever Frame consisted of 32 Levers, with Backstroke locking on the Home Signals. Train control was Van Schoor to Dundee & Malonjeni, with Interworking to Extremity Interloop.Â

By 1986, with the increase in coal loading from a nearby mine, It was decided to convert the No.2 Loop to a Siding. The Loop Signal arms were changed to a "Goods or Siding" arm, and Derails were installed. However, this only lasted 10 years, and by late 1998, all the mechanical semaphore stations from Talana to Stilwater were closed and signalling removed. Dundee remained with its colourlights and was the Radio Train Orders office for the section to Vryheid up till 2019.
