This was the 1928 layout of Pietermaritzburg station's North Cabin, It was equipped with a Saxby & Farmer Lever Frame that had 90 Levers. The layout at Pietermaritzburg changed a few times adapting to the needs of the railways at that time. By the 1960's the North & South cabins were merged to create one central cabin, and that new cabin operated colourlight signals & electric points from it. By 1987, that cabin was closed and C.T.C. was introduced, controlled by the Durban Control Office.
