This 1970's Layout of Northdene was re-modeled. A new Mainline was added behind the station building and a new footbridge added. The Signal Cabin was slightly extended to cater for 24 levers, unlike what was done at Malvern. By the 1980's the Outerhome & Distant (1 & 2) was moved further towards Escombe side and Electrically operated, as the signal wire distance for these signals was too far to run. As you can see Special Interlocking (i.e. Facing Points Bolts & Distant Signals) was installed here with the re-modeling. Van Schoor was in operation to Malvern & to Sarnia, but by April 2000, Sarnia station closed permanently, and then the new Van Schoor section with tokens was to Pinetown. In 2015 the Dead end siding was removed, and then on the 15th December 2017 Northdene was finally closed.
