By 1986, the layout of Malvern became pretty simple, The Down Siding & Down Dwarfs were removed, as well as the Goods Siding to make way for a longer 12 coach platform. The Down Outerhome Signal was set further away from the Home signal to allow better visibility for down trains coming from Escombe. The Up Siding remained and was occasionally used for the staging of a 5M2A suburban set over night, or when a triple crossing had to take place. By the 1990's this siding was abandoned, and by 2015 the siding was removed, adding more levers to the spare levers list. On the 15th December 2017, Malvern finally closed with C.T.C. being commissioned.
