Charlestown Station layout from 1925, on the original alignment. It had a Lever Frame consisting of 12 Levers, and was equipped with Standard SAR Signalling with a Pullover Frame. Webb & Thompson Electric train staff (Absolute & Permissive) was the method of train control, from Mount Prospect & Volksrust. A new bigger station was built by 1938, and by the late 1960s colourlights were installed. By 1984, a new deviation line bypassing Charlestown & Volksrust had been commissioned, with the old line seldom used. By the late 1990's the original line was abandoned.
