This was the late 1960's layout of Avoca Station on the Old North Coast line. The station was one of 4 Detector type stations country wide that consisted of a Single Home Signal for entrance to the station, the others being Inchanga, Bethesda Road & Strand. Avoca was a very compact but almost useless crossing station, with the loop being 112m. The method of Train Control was Van Schoor Absolute to Duffs Road & Red Hill. By the 1970's the station was permanently closed, and a new high level platform was constructed just the other side of the river bridge, making that the new Avoca ("Halt"). Also at that time, the present mainline became an "Intersiding" with other sidings removed, and the loop line becoming the new "Mainline".
