(AVS)804Alverstone was a originally a small Scissors Crossing Station, which opened in 1903 in the N.G.R. days. It was the summit of the Old Main Line Between Durban & Inchanga. By the mid 1920's the station was closed and reduced to a Siding, due to the opening of the New Main Line. A "One-Way Points Indicator" was installed here, and the Up Reception track was removed, leaving just the Down Reception as a Siding. By the late 1970's, the siding was removed all together, and became a "Stopping Place"
