Klipplaat station was a busy Junction back in the day, and had its own Locomotive depot. This 1970's layout shows a Detector Station (Hand tumblers for points) and signals interlocked & worked from a lever frame. Although I'm not 100% corrected on the numbering of the signals here, provisions were made for mechanical points machines in the future, (hence the abundance of spare levers) but unfortunately that never materialized. Telegraph Orders were in use for traffic control towards Mount Stewart, Aberdeen Road & Miller. By late 1978, Van Schoor Automatic working was introduced on the Oudtshoorn section, as most of the stations had closed, leaving only a handful stations still open, which were Willowmore, Barandas & Le Roux.Klipplaat station finally closed out in 1992, along with the section to Rosmead too.
