Sanjib C. Chowdhury, Ph.D.

I am an associate scientist at the University of Delaware Center for Composite Materials (UD-CCM). I am involved in research, teaching, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students and postdoc. My research efforts primarily focus on designing and developing multifunctional nanomaterials, composite materials, ballistic fibers and their manufacturing process for extreme environment applications. Materials-by-Design approach involves multi-scale and multi-physics modeling and experimental characterization. Collaborating with Prof. John W. Gillespie Jr. at the University of Delaware, I have submitted several projects as PI and Co-PI over last few years and acquired $1,146,226 research fund to date.

Before joining at the University of Delaware in 2011, I worked as an associate professor at the Mechanical Engineering Department, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). I served as an assistant provost in student residential halls and advised five masters degree students. I have published about 60 peer-review journal and conference papers and presented my research at numerous national and international scientific conferences. I have been involved in extensive peer-review work for many scientific article publishers, including Nature, Elsevier, SAGE, Springer, MDPI and Taylor & Francis. Besides peer-review works, I regularly organize technical sessions/symposium in my field of expertise in the American Society for Composites (ASC), Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE) and MACH Conferences. Recently, I am serving as guest editor in a special issue on “Polymer Fibers and Composites”, for ‘Fibers’ journal published by MDPI.
