WORK EXPERIENCES

Samsung Electronics, Korea, (January 2017 – August 2020)

Proposed and developed the anticipatory systems to minimize the production facility idleness and reduce human intervention for the abnormal events in plants. Managing the large-scale automation system is too tough and labor-intensive; thus, they are not sufficiently optimized by the deterministic and rule-based approaches. We successfully employed several predictive system in the real-world applications such as scheduling, dispatching, and job assignment tasks in manufacturing fields. The success story on artificial intelligence-based control system is relatively rare in production sites. There are several difficulties to adopt the robust and sustainable AI-systems in production sites; low resource learning problems, the highly coupled system of systems, unsafe data-driven approaches for decision making, rare abnormality, and non-stationary conditions data problems. It's very encouraging to obtain a successful AI-based decision making system in consideration of all practical issues.

Samsung Electronics, Korea, (March 2014 – August 2020)

Analyzed the performance of automated material handling operation at semiconductor fabrication; developed mathematical/analytical models to improve the performance of automated material handling system; developed the OHT (Overhead Transport) Control System and Stocker Control System.

Samsung Electronics, Korea, (July 2012 – June 2013)

Initiated the mega project in which the developed system provided monitoring, analyzing and optimizing functions for EDS manufacturing lines. The loss of asset utilization of equipment is visualized in Gantt Chart and the mathematical model provide the optimal production planning, now for more than 200 operators.

Samsung Electronics, Korea, (June 2010August 2010, April 2014November 2014)

Announcing the flexibility of the manufacturing system relative to the variability of production demands. Especially, I focused on evaluating the capacity planning performance with regard to the severe bottleneck facilities. We suggested the multiple criteria and developed an innovative method which can be robustly applied in various production environments of the semiconductor manufacturing.

Samsung Electronics, Korea, (November 2011 – December 2014)

As part of the Manufacturing Modeling and Simulation Analysis Research project, developed the manufacturing simulation and analysis tool to design factory layout and improve the manufacturing operation, which had been applied in affiliated overseas manufacturing lines.

Samsung Electronics, Korea, (April 2010 – December 2013)

To support production scheduling decision making, developed a sophisticated modeled simulator for semiconductor manufacturing system. The simulator was modeled by discrete event simulation concepts and used to obtain optimal decision making by considering both production and material handling systems.

TmaxSoft, Korea, (July 2008February 2010)

To provide an architectural solutions for real application interactions, enterprise service bus (ESB)-based solution was developed for providing abundant services such as process automation, protocol processing, and rule combinations to facilitate data transfers and obtain the service orchestration. I focused on developing the enterprise application integration (EAI) adapter, including HTTP-, WEBDAV-, SAP-, SWIFT-, and so forth.

TmaxSoft, Korea, (January 2007June 2008)

Developed the administration system based on web applications for the commercial products. The system was built on the conventional web frameworks such as struts, jsf, ajax, and spring stuffs.
