Investigating Exercise-Induced Neuroplasticity in Parkinson's Disease

A research study located at the VA San Diego Healthcare System

UCSD and Michael J Fox Foundation

This study seeks to characterize biological components of blood that are biomarkers for earlier diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease. These biomarkers are key to development of new therapies that slow or stop progression.

The study is recruiting individuals over 50 who have been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease as well as healthy individuals, including partner's of patients.

The VA San Diego Healthcare System

This study is investigating the effectiveness of a 10-week long cognitive training intervention on thinking, mood, and quality of life in people with PD. This course teaches strategies to improve cognitive thinking skills, and this study involves 4 testing sessions where you would complete cognitive pencil and paper tests.

UCSD

This study is investigating the effectiveness of a 6-week osteopathic manipulation treatment for people with PD. This study involves undergoing 3 testing sessions that assess your balance, gait, and posture, and the possibility of receiving 6 treatments by a licensed doctor of osteopathy.

The VA San Diego Healthcare System

This study is investigating how the brain controls cognitive processes in PD, and whether brain functioning is related to genes in PD. This study involves performing tasks in an MRI scanner, completing cognitive pencil and paper tests, and providing a saliva sample.
