There are countless, supposedly "complete", lists of animal sanctuaries online. ALL of them either include animal sanctuaries that no longer appear to exist, do not provide information as to the visitation availability and veganity of each sanctuary, or are missing dozens of animal sanctuaries from their list. The last of those three is true of all lists I've encountered to date.Â
By combing through and combining all of these lists, in addition to performing meticulous online searches of my own, I have attempted to create an improved list. Obviously, animal sanctuaries are always closing and opening and I may miss numerous along the process of compiling them. This is my best attempt at providing a comprehensive list of farm animal sanctuaries. Each sanctuary listed includes the link to their website, their location, visitation availability, and veganity.
Any "sanctuaries" found to involve horseriding, the selling of animal products, or other exploitative practices are excluded. Exclusively-equine or donkey sanctuaries are also excluded.
Note that almost are sanctuaries that are listed as "open to the public" still require some type of booking in advance. You cannot just show up. Instructions with regard to tours or volunteering are always available on the sanctuary's website or other linked resources.
