1 Day Class. 3 Hrs. to complete. Designed for one-on-one training.
We spend 1 hour in our training room going over a handout that covers an introduction to basic KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ATTITUDE in preparation to safely shoot and operate a handgun for the TX License To Carry Handgun Proficiency Qualification.
Then we spend 60-90 minutes minutes learning how to LOAD, UNLOAD, SHOOT a handgun. Upon successful completion of the class the participant will be certified for the PART II SHOOTING PROFICIENCY, which is required for a participant to apply for a License To Carry Handgun with TX DPS (formerly CHL).
Participants will be provided a handout and will attend a 1 hour classroom presentation. Class topics include: 1.Understanding Gun parts, Ammunition, and common handgun malfunctions. 2. Participants will shoot a 50 round learning/practice course of fire while being coached through the fundamentals of each shot fired. Next, the participant will shoot another 50 rounds to satisfy PART II SHOOTING PROFICIENCY, of the TX License To Carry Handgun requirement. Handgun, Ammunition, Paper target, and eye and ear protection are provided. Shooting course of fire includes: 20 shots fired from 3 yds, 20 shots fired from 7 yds, and 10 shots fired from 15 yds. Upon successful completion of the SHOOTING PROFICIENCY, participants will be given a LTC-100 Certificate of Completion. Participants will submit the LTC-100 online to TXDPS along with the application to obtain a License To Carry Handgun.
For anyone at least 20 years of age. Beginners and anyone needing a refresher lesson are eligible to enroll for this class. Participants who enroll should have little or NO experience on how to LOAD, UNLOAD and SHOOT a handgun safely. Participants should enroll and participate in this class before participating in the regular TX License To Carry Handgun Class.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Must be at least 19 years old to enroll and participate in class.
Do I need a holster for my handgun?
No. Holsters will not be used. Please carry your UNLOADED handgun in a gun box or range bag.

Who can I bring into the event?
Only enrolled participants that have purchased a ticket are permitted in the class.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No. A class roster will have your information. However, please bring a valid ID or Drivers License to complete your certification paperwork.
Where will Shooting Proficiency take place?
San Antonio's Finest Gun Coach prefers to use the classroom and shooting facilities at the shooting complex called The Bullet Hole. We are not associated with the shooting complex but have a great working relationship with the complex. Our program is not associated with the complex. Please do not contact the shooting complex with questions concerning this class. Direct any questions directly to us only.
Will there be a food break?
There will be a break in which you can snack if you bring your own snack. Drinks are permitted during class.
