If you want immersive sound with intelligent noise cancellation for long listening sessions, choose Samsung Galaxy Buds2; if you need all-day battery life and wind-resistant calls for outdoor activities, choose XIAOMI Redmi Buds 6.
• Samsung Galaxy Buds2: Delivers studio-quality Hi-Fi audio and intelligent active noise cancellation but offers only six hours of playback on a single charge.
• XIAOMI Redmi Buds 6: Provides an impressive thirty-hour total battery life and specialized wind-noise filtering for calls, though the driver tuning leans heavily toward bass-heavy styles.
• The Samsung pick is best for audiophiles who prioritize soundstage and seamless ANC in urban or indoor environments.
• The XIAOMI pick is ideal for anglers and travelers who need a lightweight headset that survives wind and lasts through a full day of fishing without frequent recharging.
The Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro stands out primarily because of its focus on acoustic fidelity and intelligent isolation. When I look at the specifications, the inclusion of Intelligent Active Noise Cancellation suggests a device built to create a quiet sanctuary. This isn't just about blocking out traffic; it is about using technology to tune out the world so you can focus entirely on what matters. Whether you are trying to hear the subtle nuances in a podcast or get lost in a complex musical arrangement, the system is designed to reduce unwanted noise effectively.
For those who care deeply about the quality of their audio, this product delivers studio-grade performance. The dynamic drivers cover the full frequency range from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, ensuring that both deep lows and crisp highs are present. What truly sets these apart is the Enhanced 360-degree audio feature. This technology attempts to bring a personalized surround sound experience, amplifying the tones you love while minimizing distractions. If you are someone who listens to music as a primary form of entertainment or relaxation, this spatial audio capability makes a significant difference in how the sound feels.

However, the trade-off lies in the battery endurance. While the ANC and high-fidelity processing offer incredible immersion, they consume power quickly. You are looking at an average of six hours of battery life per charge. This is sufficient for a standard commute or a work session, but it requires more discipline regarding charging cycles. Furthermore, the design emphasizes a secure fit with an aluminum enclosure, which feels premium but adds a slight weight compared to plastic alternatives. These earbuds are perfect for the user who wants the best possible sound and silence, provided they don't mind plugging them in once a day. They are less suited for someone who needs to go three days without touching a charger.
The XIAOMI Redmi Buds 6 Active enters the conversation with a very different philosophy: longevity and durability. The headline feature here is the massive 30-hour total battery life, achieved by combining a six-hour single-use duration with a compact charging case. This specification alone changes the equation for anyone who travels, works long shifts, or spends hours outdoors. You can listen to music all day without the anxiety of your battery dying mid-session. The charging case itself is incredibly light at just 28 grams, making it easy to slip into a pocket without feeling the bulk.
What makes this specific model particularly relevant for outdoor enthusiasts is its call clarity and wind resistance. Fishing often means being near water where wind can be unpredictable, and clear communication is essential whether you are talking to a buddy or taking a work call between casts. This headset utilizes a dual-microphone beamforming design paired with a DNN acoustic ENC algorithm. More importantly, it features a specific double perforation design that filters out wind noise up to 4 meters per second. This is a critical detail for anyone who has struggled to be heard while standing on a dock or boat in a breeze. The IPX4 waterproof rating also ensures that splashes from the water do not ruin the electronics.
The audio profile here is tuned differently than the Samsung. The 14.2mm dynamic horn driver is engineered specifically for better low-frequency response and higher sound pressure levels. If you enjoy bass-heavy genres like hip-hop, rock, or electronic music, the Xiaomi will likely feel more satisfying. The inclusion of five tuning modes via the app allows you to customize the sound to match your preference. However, the build is made of plastic, which feels lighter but perhaps less robust than the metal casing of the Samsung. This is the choice for the practical user who values endurance, comfort for long wear times (under 4g per earbud), and reliable connectivity over pure sonic perfection.
• Best for Sound Quality & Immersion: The Samsung Galaxy Buds2 wins with its 360-degree audio and Hi-Fi tuning, offering a richer, more detailed soundscape.
• Best for Battery Life: The XIAOMI Redmi Buds 6 dominates with a total of 30 hours of playtime, far exceeding the Samsung's 6-hour single charge limit.
• Best for Windy Conditions: The XIAOMI Redmi Buds 6 includes specific engineering to filter wind noise up to 4m/s, making it superior for outdoor calls.
• Best for Secure Fit & Build: The Samsung Galaxy Buds2 uses an aluminum enclosure and a design focused on a secure, comfortable "forget they're there" fit.
• Best for Bass Lovers: The XIAOMI Redmi Buds 6 features a larger 14.2mm driver explicitly tuned for deeper bass effects.
• Best for Call Clarity: Both have noise cancellation, but the Xiaomi's dual-mic setup is specifically optimized for environmental noise reduction during speech.
• Best for Connectivity Speed: The XIAOMI Redmi Buds 6 supports Bluetooth 5.4 and offers ultra-low latency (90ms), slightly ahead of the Samsung's Bluetooth 5.3.
• Best Value for Long Trips: If you are going away for multiple days, the XIAOMI Redmi Buds 6 requires fewer charging interruptions due to its massive case capacity.
In my opinion, the winner depends entirely on the context of your day, but for a specific use case like fishing, the XIAOMI Redmi Buds 6 is the smarter investment. While the Samsung offers a more refined audio experience for music, the reality of being on the water involves wind, water splashes, and long hours of waiting. The Xiaomi's ability to handle 4m/s wind noise and provide 30 hours of total power makes it the most practical tool for the job. I would buy the XIAOMI for my next fishing trip because reliability and battery life outweigh the marginal gain in audio fidelity when you are trying to catch fish rather than just listen to tracks. It is the best open ear earbuds for fishing scenarios where durability and endurance are non-negotiable.
While "best" is subjective, the XIAOMI Redmi Buds 6 is highly recommended for fishing due to its wind-noise cancellation and IPX4 waterproofing, whereas the Samsung lacks specific wind-filtering specs.
The XIAOMI Redmi Buds 6 offers a significantly longer lifespan with up to 30 hours total usage including the case, compared to the Samsung Galaxy Buds2's 6 hours on a single charge.
Yes, both the Samsung Galaxy Buds2 and the XIAOMI Redmi Buds 6 feature Active Noise Cancellation to help reduce background sounds, though the Samsung focuses on ambient noise while the Xiaomi targets wind and call noise.
The XIAOMI Redmi Buds 6 weighs under 4 grams per earbud and is ergonomically designed for thousands of people to wear comfortably for long periods, potentially offering an edge in extended wear sessions over the heavier Samsung model.
