The mission of our Free Youth Football Clinic is to provide a safe, inclusive, and positive environment where young athletes can develop their fundamental football skills, build confidence, incorporate God into football, and learn the value of teamwork. Although the camp is free, we ask that all kids bring a canned good for admission to the camp. This will go to our local Lee County food pantry to help families and individuals in need. We are committed to offering a high-quality, no-cost experience that fosters a love for the game, promotes physical fitness, and teaches essential life lessons such as sportsmanship, leadership, and discipline. Our clinic is designed to be accessible to ALL children, regardless of background or skill level, with the goal of inspiring them to stay active, engage with their communities, and realize their full potential both on and off the field. By creating a supportive space for learning and growth, we hope to instill lasting values that extend beyond the football field, empowering young people to succeed in all aspects of life. This football clinic is so much more than just teaching kids how to play the game. It is an opportunity to engage our youth, many of whom lack access to structured athletic programs. Providing a free camp ensures that every child, regardless of their family’s financial situation, has the chance to learn and grow in an environment of faith, discipline, and leadership. It is imperative that we continue to invest in youth engagement, especially in today’s world where positive role models and mentorship are in high demand.
God plays a central role in football, not only as a source of strength but also as a guiding presence through the highs and lows of the game. In my personal journey, He has been my anchor through injuries that threatened to end my career, moments of sadness that made me question my purpose, and periods of uncertainty and fear that tested my resilience. In the moments where I felt empty, unsure of the next step, God has always been there, reminding me that with faith, I can overcome anything. In football, and in life, we are reminded to walk by faith, not by sight—trusting that even when the path ahead seems unclear or difficult, God is always guiding us toward something greater. His strength gives me the courage to keep pushing forward, knowing that He has a plan, even when I can’t see it.
As a way of giving back, we will be giving out over 185 bibles to campers. Planting a seed by giving away Bibles at a youth football camp is a powerful way to share faith and inspire the next generation. Football teaches discipline, teamwork, and resilience, but when paired with the teachings of the Bible, it can provide deeper guidance and strength in life. By handing out Bibles, you're offering not just a book, but a source of hope, encouragement, and spiritual wisdom. It’s a way of showing young athletes that their value goes beyond their skills on the field, and that they are loved and supported by a higher power. This simple act can plant the seed of faith, helping them build a strong foundation for their lives, both in sport and beyond, and showing them the importance of walking with God in all aspects of life.
Along with a free bible, campers will be given 2Corinthians 5:7 wristbands as a constant reminder that the road ahead has already been paved by God. For we live by faith, not by sight," and this verse holds deep meaning when applied to both football and life. In football, there’s so much we can’t control—injuries, unexpected losses, or moments when the game isn’t going our way. The scoreboard doesn’t always reflect our effort, and the outcome can feel uncertain, just like life itself. But this verse reminds us that we don’t have to live based on what we can see. When things feel uncertain—whether it’s on the field or in life—we can choose to walk by faith, trusting that God has a bigger plan even when we don’t understand what’s happening in the moment. It’s a call to rely on Him, not just when things are going well, but especially when fear, doubt, or challenges arise. Faith means trusting that God is with us through every setback, guiding us toward something greater, even when the path ahead seems unclear. In football, just like in life, living by faith gives us the courage to keep moving forward, knowing God is always with us, no matter what the scoreboard or circumstances might say.
"Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant".
-Matthew 20:26
The clinic will be led by former football players from Giddings High School and surrounding schools, including Smithville, La Grange, Bellville, Rockdale, and Columbus. We are especially excited to have collegiate athletes such as Jusiah Sampleton (UTSA), Tyson Hancock (Trinity), Bravion Rogers (Texas A&M), and Richard Reese (SFA), Delvin Morris (Kansas State) and many more join us to provide coaching and serve as role models to our participants. Their involvement will add tremendous value to the event and offer inspiration to these young athletes.
