Graduated from Kharkiv State University in 1983, diploma in biology, qualification "biologist, teacher of biology and chemistry" and specialization "genetics and cytology". From 1991 to 1994, she studied at the correspondence postgraduate of Kharkiv State University, majoring in biochemistry, and defended her PhD thesis on the topic "Proteinase-alpha-1-proteinase inhibitor system under conditions of cold and adrenal stress in rats." In 2003, she received the title of senior researcher at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. She regularly took courses in "Clinical Biochemistry".

Since 1983, she worked as a teacher of biology and chemistry, an organizer of extraclassroom and extraschool work in a average school. Since December 1986, she worked at the Research Institute of Therapy of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine as a laboratory assistant in the pulmonology department, since 1988 - a junior researcher in the arterial hypertension department, since 1991 - a senior researcher in the radioimmune research group by competition. In 1995, she was transferred to the post of senior researcher of the department of biochemical, immunological and immunoenzymatic research methods, in 2002 she was transferred to the post of head of this department, since 2004 - head of the laboratory of immunoenzymatic research methods. In 2004 she received the scientific title of senior researcher. Since 2005, she has been transferred to the post of leading researcher of the laboratory of  biochemical and immunoenzymatic research methods by competition, now the laboratory of immuno-biochemical and molecular genetic research.

The main areas of work: study of biochemical markers of the development of the stress reaction and its prevention, assessment of early markers of internal organs diseases, progression of the pathological state of the organism, control of treatment.

Samokhina L.M. - an active participant in various scientific conferences: yearly therapeutic readings dedicated to the memory of L.T. Malaya (Kharkiv, 2004-2021); scientific and practical conferences with international participation "Danilevsky readings" (Kharkiv); and other.

−      The diploma of the Presidium of the Academy of Medical Sciences recognizes the scientific research work "Proteinase-inhibitor proteinase system under conditions of oxidative stress, adaptation and pathology" as the best, which was completed in 2002. Research supervisor L.M. Samokhina.

−      In 2002, 2003, 2004 pp. the work of the department, headed by L.M. Samokhina, was recognized with Diplomas of the 1st degree of the Therapy Institute of the Medical Academy of Ukraine for active innovative and inventive activity and high achievements in the field of legal protection of the results of scientific research.

Samokhina L.M. - the author of more than 495 scientific works (including 2 monographs) on topical issues of development and control of the stress reaction of organism and lung, heart, kidney pathology, etc. Samokhina L.M. scientific developments were protected by 69 invention patents of Ukraine.
