My name is Sam Merrill, I am a 23 year old senior at the University of Denver pursuing a major in Environmental Science with a Writing minor. Originally drawn to Colorado for my love of the outdoors, when I am not in class, I can usually be found skiing, or knee deep in a river fly fishing. I plan to use the skills I have developed in my time at DU to find a career writing about the natural world.

Coming from a mixed background of science and creativity, my writing is a combination of fact based arguments overlayed with strong personal opinions. I enjoy leaving my readers with a message to think about long after they have stopped reading my piece. I feel strongly that we as writers cannot limit ourselves to one single style, and that it is important to grab from different genres. As a result, my writing does not follow one style, and can adapt to fit whatever audience applies. I hope you enjoy my writing and are inspired to explore the world around you.
