Samantha's first publication was in 2009, on the discrimination experienced by scholars with invisible illnesses: https://mtosmt.org/issues/mto.09.15.3/mto.09.15.3.bassler.php . She continues to publish on similar topics, and to advocate for all persons with disabilities, especially in her work in education, through inclusive pedagogy as a university educator and at her private music studio, and also through spreading awareness in her scholarship and social media, and generally while being a human out and about in the world. Her forthcoming memoir, Verisimilitude, will also explore the competing factors of structural ableism with disability identity and the difficulties experienced by women and minorities who have chronic illness and disability and mental illness and disability.
Samantha is a certified yoga teacher who is also disabled and specializes in creating supportive flows for people with disabilities, especially those with mental illness and chronic illness and pain.
Samantha is working on a SubStack about disability identity which will eventually become her memoir: https://samanthabassler.substack.com/
