Gen 1:9-13

Lesson #7

And God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear." And it was so. God called the dry ground "land," and the gathered waters he called "seas." And God saw that it was good. Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning-- the third day. (Gen. 1:9-13 NIV)

We Praise God

… for creating dry ground and the seas for mankind’s benefit

… for creating that which is good by his own standards and high above our understanding and wisdom

… for creating dry ground that has life within it to produce vegetation

… for bringing forth both plants and trees that will be food for created beings

… for bringing forth various kinds of plants and trees and not just one kind

… for bringing forth plants with seeds in them to have a sustainability in itself

… for bringing forth trees with the ability to produces fruit with seed as well

… for when you made light on day one, this must have been more than light. This light has life or wisdom to respond to the words of God. (Prov. 8:22)

… for creating light that gave the earth that was formless, empty and dark to have the ability to produce seed bearing plants, to produce trees that bear fruit with seeds with self-sustainability, in obedience to your word (Prov. 8:22)

Remind us O God of our desperate situation without you

There is nothing left for our lord except our bodies and our land.

Why should we perish before your eyes-- we and our land as well?

Buy us and our land in exchange for food, and we with our land will be in bondage to Pharaoh. Give us seed so that we may live and not die,

and that the land may not become desolate. (Gen. 47:18-19 NIV)

However, Father God we acknowledge that we have sinned:

… for rejecting Jesus Christ, who said “I am the light of the world, whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (Jn. 8:12)

Application for today as children of God

We praise you, for through Jesus, we are purchased, restored and redirected

Those who belong to Christ are Abraham's seed with promise (Gal. 3:29 )

Those who are born again, have been bought by the imperishable seed, through the living and enduring word of God. (1 Pet. 1:23 )

Those born of God have God’s seed in them and they do not continue in sin;

Those with the seed of God are evident to others as children of God

Those with the seed of God will do right and not evil

Those with the seed of God are God’s children and not Devil’s children

Those with the seed of God will love and not hate their brothers and sisters (1 Jn. 3:9-10 )
