Lesson 02 第二课

Day 1:

What did God first create on the first day of his creation? What is its significance then and today?

I) Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. (Gen. 1:2 )

II) Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. (Gen. 2:1 )

We Praise you God

(God à El-o-heem, Gen. 1:1 – 2:3 à One True God (P)

LORD God Jehovah El-o-heem, Gen. 2:4-3:24), à The Existing One, One True God (J)

… for you first created a formless, empty and a dark earth

… for you later created form, fullness and light from the formless earth

… for you made the heavens high and the earth deep (Prv. 25:3)

… for you made the earth by your power (Jer. 10:12)…Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 1:24)

… for you founded the world by your wisdom (Jer. 10:12)…Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 1:24)

… for you made the earth by your understanding (Jer. 10:12)…Holy Spirit (Col 1:9)

… for you fashioned a made the earth, you founded it and you did not create it to be empty but formed it to be inhabited (Isa. 45:18)

… for your splendor is above the heavens and the earth (Ps.148:13)

… for your ways and thoughts are higher than ours (Isa. 55:9)

… for in Christ Jesus all things are created in heaven and on earth (Col. 1:16)

… for in Christ Jesus all things are created – visible and invisible (Col. 1:16)

… for all of the heavens and earth and everything in it belongs to you (Deut. 10:14)

God, we acknowledge that we have sinned:

"My people are fools; they do not know me.

They are senseless children; they have no understanding.

They are skilled in doing evil; they know not how to do good.“ I looked at the earth, and it was formless and empty; and at the heavens, and their light was gone. (Jer. 4:22-23)

When the LORD could no longer endure your wicked actions and the detestable things you did, your land became a curse and a desolate waste without inhabitants, as it is today. (Jer. 44:22 NIV)

The sun and moon will be darkened and the stars will no longer shine (Joel 3:15) The earth will become desolate of its inhabitants, as a result of their deeds (Mic. 7:13)

… our sin has brought us to a state of formlessness, empty, and dark

... We are sorry for our known and unknown disobedience.

… Please forgive us.

Please restore us:

… our ungodliness lifestyle to a form of godliness with its power (2 Tim. 3:5)

… us to move away from being: “People who are lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God-- (2 Tim. 3:2-4)

… our mouth from empty and boastful words that spring from lustful desires to entice people who are living in error (2 Pet. 2:18) but rather fill our mouth with praises, declaring your splendor all day long (Ps. 71:8)

… our walk that claims to have fellowship with light and yet walk in darkness, and living out a lie and not the truth (1 Jn. 1:16) but rather to believe in Jesus Christ, the light of the world, so that we will follow him and never walk in darkness but have the light of life (Jn. 8:12; 12:46)
