Privacy Policy for Salesforce Metadata Studio
Last Updated: September 1, 2026
Salesforce Metadata Studio ("Salesforce Metadata Studio", "we", "our", or "the Extension") is a Chrome extension designed to help Salesforce developers and administrators retrieve, inspect, edit, query, analyze, validate, and deploy Salesforce metadata directly from their browser.
We respect user privacy and are committed to handling information only as necessary to provide the Extension's functionality.
Depending on the features used, Salesforce Metadata Studio may access or process information within the user's authenticated Salesforce environment, including:
Salesforce metadata and metadata configuration
Apex source code and other source/configuration files opened or retrieved by the user
SOQL queries entered or executed by the user
Salesforce query results
Anonymous Apex code entered or executed by the user
Salesforce API request and response data
Deployment and validation results
Salesforce organization and environment information
Salesforce user and session context required to communicate with the authenticated Salesforce organization
The Extension only accesses information necessary to provide the functionality requested by the user.
Salesforce Metadata Studio uses the user's existing authenticated Salesforce session to communicate with Salesforce.
The Extension does not ask users to provide their Salesforce password directly to the Extension.
Authentication/session information may be accessed or handled temporarily when required to communicate with the user's Salesforce organization.
We do not intentionally sell, advertise against, or use Salesforce authentication information for purposes unrelated to providing the Extension's functionality.
Authentication information should not be stored in query history, saved queries, deployment history, URLs, or application logs.
Salesforce Metadata Studio may process Salesforce data when the user explicitly uses features such as:
Metadata retrieval
Metadata editing
Metadata comparison
SOQL queries
Anonymous Apex
REST API requests
Deployment and validation
Dependency or impact analysis
Debugging and investigation features
This processing is performed to provide the requested Salesforce developer functionality.
The Extension does not use Salesforce data for advertising, user profiling, creditworthiness decisions, or unrelated purposes.
The Extension may use Chrome's local extension storage for lightweight application data such as:
User interface preferences
Editor preferences
Saved queries
Query history
Recent activity
Non-sensitive application settings
Lightweight cached schema or metadata information required for performance
Sensitive authentication information is not intentionally stored in Chrome storage.
Users can remove locally stored Extension data by removing the Extension or using the relevant browser/Extension settings where applicable.
Salesforce Metadata Studio communicates with Salesforce when required to perform Salesforce operations requested by the user.
The Extension is designed to communicate directly with the user's Salesforce environment rather than transmitting Salesforce source code, metadata, queries, or session information to unrelated third-party services.
We do not sell user data.
We do not use user data for advertising or behavioral tracking.
We do not transfer user data to third parties for purposes unrelated to the Extension's single purpose.
Salesforce Metadata Studio does not intentionally use Salesforce user data, source code, metadata, queries, or authentication information for third-party advertising, analytics, or profiling.
If a future version introduces a third-party service that requires access to user data, the privacy policy and Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated before that functionality is introduced, where required.
The Extension may interact with Salesforce authentication cookies when necessary to maintain or use the user's existing authenticated Salesforce session.
Cookies are used only for authentication/session-related functionality and are not used by the Extension for advertising or cross-site tracking.
The Extension does not intentionally maintain a separate external database containing users' Salesforce data.
Information may remain temporarily in browser memory while a Salesforce operation is being performed.
Lightweight non-sensitive information such as saved queries, preferences, or local history may remain in Chrome extension storage until the user removes it or the Extension removes it according to its storage behavior.
We take reasonable technical measures to protect information handled by the Extension.
These measures include:
Limiting access to information required for Extension functionality
Avoiding unnecessary external data transmission
Avoiding storage of Salesforce passwords
Avoiding exposure of authentication information through URLs or logs
Using Chrome's extension security model
Limiting requested browser permissions to required functionality
Keeping dependencies and the Extension implementation maintained as appropriate
No software can guarantee absolute security. Users should maintain appropriate security practices for their Salesforce accounts and devices.
We do not sell user data.
We do not sell Salesforce metadata, source code, query information, authentication information, or other user data.
We do not share user data with third parties for advertising or unrelated purposes.
Data may be transmitted to Salesforce as necessary to perform actions explicitly requested by the user through the Extension.
Users control when Salesforce Metadata Studio performs Salesforce operations.
For example, users decide when to:
Retrieve metadata
Run SOQL queries
Execute Anonymous Apex
Send REST API requests
Analyze metadata
Validate changes
Deploy changes
Users can also remove saved queries, local history, and other locally stored Extension information through the Extension where supported or by removing the Extension/browser data.
Salesforce Metadata Studio is a professional developer tool and is not directed toward children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy when the Extension's functionality, data practices, or applicable requirements change.
When material changes are made, the updated policy will be published with a revised "Last Updated" date.
For privacy questions, security concerns, or requests related to the Extension's handling of information, please contact the Extension's designated publisher/support contact listed on its Chrome Web Store listing.
