At the end of each semester, we collect feedback from students regarding the tutorials. One of the most common suggestions has been to increase the duration of the tutorial sessions. After discussions with fellow colleagues, we decided to conduct additional sessions on weekends for two hours to help students clear their doubts.
We also felt that it would be beneficial to provide students with more practice questions so that part of these two-hour sessions could be used to discuss selected problems. Encouraged by the enthusiasm of our TAs, we began creating additional questions and sharing them with students. Despite their busy schedules, the TAs made time to develop these questions and discuss them among themselves before sharing them.
As with any new initiative, creating these resources for the first time was time-consuming and required significant effort. We were motivated by the students’ enthusiasm and the satisfaction of developing something useful for future batches. We have also been refining the types of questions based on the feedback received from students.
The professors in the Department of Mathematics at IIT Indore—especially Dr. Sanjeev Singh, Dr. Vijay Kumar Sohani, Dr. Vinay Kumar Gupta, and Dr. Charitha Cherugondi—have been very supportive, assisting with verifying the questions and arranging classrooms.
The TAs involved are I along with Aniruddha Deshmukh, Shubham Alte, Arya Patel, Debdeep Roy, Snehalatha Sahoo and Pratyay Datta.
I am attaching the set of questions we have prepared. Some of them have been adapted from online resources such as IIT Kanpur lecture notes and Paul’s Online Notes.
