St. Jude Thaddeus
Patron saint of humanly difficult and desperate causes and also of work and employment. Jude in Hebrew means: praise be given to God and Thaddeus means: brave to proclaim your faith.
St. Jude is surnamed Thaddeus to differentiate him from Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Christ.
His liturgical commemoration is celebrated together with St. Simon the Apostle on October 28th, because according to ancient tradition they always preached together and were both martyred on that same date.
St. Jude was related to Our Lord given his relationship with Sts. Joachim and Anne, parents of the Blessed Virgin. Nephew grandson of these two saints, he is at the same time nephew of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Joseph and younger brother of the Apostle St. James. As an adolescent, St. Jude was a companion of Jesus. When Jesus began His public ministry, St. Jude left everything to follow Him.
Upon his martyrdom, his head was cut with an axe. His body was moved to Rome and his remains are venerated in St. Peter's Basilica.
St. Jude is sought and invoked as a patron of the desperate. Yet the Church has not given this title, but the people.
St. Bridget of Sweden tells in her revelations how Our Lord recommended that whenever she wanted to obtain certain favours, she should ask for them through the intercession of St. Jude.
St. Jude is amongst the most popular of saints because of the numerous heavenly favours he obtains for his devotees who pray to him with faith. In Germany, Italy, Latin America and the U.S. and in numerous other places, St. Jude has countless devotees who obtain admirable help from God through his intercession, especially in terms of obtaining employment, a home or numerous other benefits.
Remember to thank St. Jude once your petitions are granted. Always pray with faith.

(To be said in cases despaired of)
St. Jude, glorious apostle, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor has caused you to be forgotten by many, but the true Church invokes you universally as the patron of things despaired of; pray for me, who am so miserable; pray for me, that finally I may receive the consolations and the succour of Heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly: (here mention your special requests), and that I may bless God with the elect throughout eternity. Amen.
St. Jude, glorious apostle, martyr and relative of our Lord Jesus Christ, of Mary and of Joseph, intercede for us!
St. Jude Thaddeus, pray for me and for all who trust in thee and invoke thy aid, humbly in need of thy intercession. Amen.
God has granted to St. Jude extraordinary powers in cases where others seem to have failed, and it is especially in difficult cases that his wonderful help is experienced. Thousands daily invoke his aid, and many have seen their prayers answered in a miraculous manner, even when to all human calculation the petition seemed hopeless. Though it be sickness, poverty, misery, distress of heart and soul, even despair, go to this great saint and let him find the solution for your difficulty.
