Jesus is stripped of his clothes
Leader: We adore you O Christ, and we praise you. (genuflect)
ALL: Because by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world
Leader: To be without clothes in front of everyone is a humiliating thing. Jesus wasn’t ashamed because he knew his Father in heaven loved him
Reflection:
Our bodies are sacred, special gifts from God, all bodies are precious. Stripped of our pride by, for example, being corrected in front of others, we can feel very embarrassed. But even through constant embarrassment, pain, and sadness that Jesus had to go through, he still continued to his death, so that we can live forever.
Family challenge:
Think of times we may have been embarrassed or have embarrassed others. Try not to join in with others to embarrass somebody else. Treat others the way we want to be treated.
Prayer:
Leader: Jesus, help us to think before we do or say something that might embarrass others. Give us the strength and the courage to make the right decision even when doing the right thing is hard.
All sing: Were you there when they crucified my lord? Were you there when they crucified my lord? Oh! Sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble. Were you there when they crucified my lord?
