Jesus is Condemned to Death
Leader: We adore you O Christ, and we praise you. (genuflect)
ALL: Because by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world
Leader: Jesus was accused of many crimes he didn't commit, even through all of this, he didn't defend himself. He knew that in order to save us, he needed to die for our sins.
Reflection:
How do you feel when someone blames you for something you didn’t do? Share a time when you were misunderstood or when you misjudged someone else. How did you deal with the situation? There are times in our lives when it is easier to go along with the crowd, even though we know it is wrong. It takes real courage to stand up for what is right.
Family challenge:
Try not to join in criticizing and judging others. Have the courage to stand up for those being picked on (or alert an adult) and offer friendship to unpopular children at school/in groups. Who is somebody that needs help in your life? How can you help them?
Prayer:
Leader: Jesus, I often get defensive when I know I did something wrong. Help me to be honest. I also don't want to be a tattletale or wrongly accuse others of doing wrong.
All sing: Were you there when they crucified my lord? Were you there when they crucified my lord? Oh! Sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble. Were you there when they crucified my lord?
