In 1961, the creative mind of V.K. Krishna Menon, India's then-Defense Minister, conceived the concept of Sainik Schools. Sainik Schools may be found throughout the country, and there is a growing need for new Sainik Schools in several states. The main objectives of Online Sainik Schools are to bring quality public school education within the reach of the common man, to provide all-round development of a child's personality in order to prepare him for entry into the National Defence Academy, and to eliminate regional imbalance in the Armed Forces officer's cadre. Another goal is to promote Sainik schools is to debunk the myth of martial race and dissent.
The Punjab administration has requested the Centre to approve a third Online Sainik school in Bathinda district for the state. The first Sainik School was established in Kapurthala, and the second will be established in Gurdaspur.
Chief Minister Amarinder Singh stated in a letter to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh that the state government will sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the third Sainik School Coaching as soon as the Defense Ministry approved it.
The state government has already given 40 acres of land at Dalla Gorian in Gurdaspur for the establishment of Punjab's 2nd Online Sainik School, according to the CM, and the MoA has also been signed and submitted to the Ministry of Defence's department of ex-servicemen welfare.
