You are invited to the 2026 edition of the biennial conference of the South African IEEE Joint Chapter on Antennas and Propagation (AP), Microwave Theory and Techniques (MTT) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), which will be held in Stellenbosch, on 30 and 31 July 2026 at the Stias Conference Centre.
This conference brings together engineers and researchers from industry and academia who work in fields related to AP, MTT, and EMC in South Africa. Students are particularly encouraged to attend, through a reduced registration rate and poster session.
Topics covered will include, but are not limited to, research and development work in the areas of antennas, radar and remote sensing, electromagnetic compatibility and interference, active and passive microwave devices, radio astronomy engineering, propagation, spectrum management, computational electromagnetics and modeling, measurements and testing, etc.
Invited contributions and general contributions (self-submitted) form part of the programme, as well as a few international, plenary speakers. The banquet is scheduled for the evening of July 30. The conference includes an exhibition by our sponsors listed below. We thank them for their invaluable support!
Invited contributions:
The TPC may invite presenters to contribute, with details of procedures and deadlines included with the invitation.
General contributions (non students):
Contributions from the wider community are encouraged. Please send your abstract in MS Word DOCX format, using the template below, to wernersteyn@sun.ac.za by the deadline of 30 March 2026. The TPC will communicate acceptance by 11 May 2026, in time for the early-bird registration deadline. All presenters must register by the early-bird registration deadline, to ensure that their contribution is included in the technical programme. The TPC will assign either an oral presentation (15+5 min) or a poster presentation (A1 size) format for these contributions. The format requirement will be communicated to the presenter by 30 June 2026, at the latest. In case of submissions beyond the capacity of the venue, the TPC will reject latest received submissions.
Student contributions:
There will be a student poster session. Any student registrant may elect to display a poster (A1 size), by providing the poster title as part of the early-bird registration process (no abstract details needed). Given the display space limit, contributions will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis. Postdocs are not students and should follow the instructions for general contributions.
TBA
We gratefully acknowledge the support of all the industrial sponsors listed below. Their contributions also enable a large contingent of student registrants to attend at a reduced rate. The Tier 1 and Tier 2 sponsors take part in the conference's industry exhibition. Tier 1 sponsors provided the highest level of support. Social event sponsors provide specific support for the banquet.
Retirees no longer working: you are most welcome to contact Matthys Botha at mmbotha@sun.ac.za before the early-bird deadline, for a discount registration code
Early-bird registrations include attendance of all technical sessions, lunch on both days and attendance of the conference banquet on Thursday evening.
Late and on-site registrations include the same as early registrations, except that only a limited number of banquet seats will be available to these registrants, on a first-come-first-served basis.
In case of an early student registration, a signed declaration from the study leader must be uploaded during the registration process. It must confirm (a) the status of the registrant as a full-time student at a recognised institution of higher education; and (b) that the registrant does not earn a salary. Thus, students should have this ready before the early-bird deadline.
