Textbook
D. C. Giancoli, Physics for Scientists and Engineers with Modern Physics, 5th Ed
Weekly Schedule (Section 2)
Monday 14.00-15.50 (P3)
Tuesday 14.00-15.50 (P3)
Wednesday 13.00-15.50 (P3)
1) Initially (likely for the entire first day of registration), the course will be open to students who have previously taken the course and failed with a grade of FF or FD.
2) Subsequently (either on the evening of the first registration day or the morning of the second day), the course will open to students on probation (with a cumulative GPA of 1.99 or below) who have previously taken the course and received a letter grade between NA and BB. Around the same time that morning, the course will also open to students who have previously taken the course and have a letter grade between FF and CC. The course capacity may also be increased after these criteria updates if extra capacity is available.
3) Students who have previously taken the course and received an NA grade, but are not on probation status, may be permitted to add the course at the end of the second day (around 4 pm).
4) Students who have never taken the course before will not be permitted to add the course.
5) If you meet the registration criteria stated above but are still unable to enroll, or if you do not meet the criteria but believe you have valid reasons to take the course, you may submit a formal petition to the Department of Physics.
6) For more detailed announcements, you can follow the Physics Department website at https://phys.metu.edu.tr/en/announcements/courses-offered-summer-school-are-available-now and consult the Department of Physics chair's office for further information.
1) Students who have taken the laboratory course in previous semesters and passed with a score of 50 or above are not permitted to take the laboratory.
2) Students who have taken the laboratory course in previous semesters and scored below 50 are required to attend the labs. Detailed information regarding lab days and hours will be shared with you once the laboratory coordination team for the summer school is assigned.
3) The Department Chair will determine whether laboratory attendance is required for (i) students from other universities (ii) METU Northern Cyprus Campus students (iii) students taking the course as a substitute for another course in which the laboratory is offered as a separate course. Students in these categories may consult the Department Chair.
Sections marked with an asterisk (*) are left to students as reading assignments. These topics are part of the course content, and students are responsible for learning them. However, I usually discuss them very briefly in my classes due to time restrictions.
