Grateful for what I have, I want a world where social safety isn't a luxury, but a right.
Hi, Sahajpreet here! I'm a first-year 🐣CS PhD student at NUS Computing. I have the privilege of being advised by Prof. Min-Yen Kan and Prof. Kokil Jaidka. I am a member of Web IR/NLP Group (WING) and SMOL-Project. I'm thankful to NUS Centre for Trusted Internet and Community for supporting my study here at NUS.
Research: My research interests lie at the intersection of computing and social sciences, focusing on making a trustworthy internet and safe social media for everyone. I am particularly interested in exploring hate speech, biases, fact-checking, misinformation, propaganda, computational politics, etc.
Collaborating on research with friends? That's where the magic happens!
I love meeting new people and hearing fresh perspectives on social issues. I am working and have worked with awesome people. So, if you’re up for a conversation on social computing (or want to geek out over ideas), feel free to drop me a line through email or X.
Past Journey: Before joining NUS, I spent ~1.4 incredible years as a Research Assistant at the Laboratory for Computational Social Systems (LCS2), IIT Delhi, under the supervision of Prof. Tanmoy Chakraborty. Before that, I graduated with a master's degree in Computer Application from Banaras Hindu University, where I was awarded two gold medals for academic excellence and completed my thesis under the guidance of Prof. Vivek K Singh. Even earlier, I pursued an undergrad degree in Physics from University of Delhi.
