The 2024 SJ-01 Territorial Senate election; the closest that Alianza came to picking up a territorial Senate seat saw Adrián González nearly besting interim incumbent Juan Oscar Morales, only losing in the uncertified tallies by 2.2%
Due to the dominance of San Juan, the San Juan Senate seats were Alianza's best chance to establish a district foothold in the Senate, something aided by the fact that—while Juan Oscar ran as an incumbent—this was technically an open seat as 2020 elected incumbent Henry Neumann
resigned to be with his son in the states. To this effect, Juan Oscar Morales was top of the list to succeed Neumann partly because it was feared that he may lose reelection in HD-03 (as he nearly lost to Eva Prados in 2020) and SJ-01 was a safer bet for him to be reelected.
And that was true, While in said uncertified Tallies González is winning San Juan by (PIP) +1.37%, he lost because he was blown out in Aguas Buenas and Guaynabo Sur—with Morales narrowing Gozález's margins in San Juan thanks to his strong support in the Caseríos of SJ
such as that in Luis Llorens Torres in Santurce and his longtime base in Sabana Llana norte in HD-03 (ironically winning HD-03 over Gozález even as it was thought he could lose it)
One last note: there are a few thousands of Advanced votes in the seat that have not yet been counted, so it is probable (if not likely) that Juan Oscar Morales' margin grows in the certified tallies, probably substantially.
