Goldman Performance v Topline
In addition to losing Precincts in Park Slope and Sunset Park, Representative Goldman significantly underperformed his topline number throughout Brooklyn—with exceptions in Brooklyn Heights & the Orthodox Jewish Borough Park
In Manhattan Goldman held up best in the West Village, So-Ho and Tribeca, underperformed in the East Village whilst breaking even in the Asian heavy parts of Chinatown and Battery Park City—and doing worst in the Gentrifying areas of Chinatown the Hispanic heavy Lower West side
Considering how this seat rutinely votes for progressive candidates on the city-wide and statewide level, this contest highlights major progressive discontent with representative Goldman, but beyond that it also highlights weakness with Latinos as Goldman underperformed in both Sunset Park and the Lower West Side.
Notably this underperformance came despite neither challenger having a Latino Last Name, meaning this was more likely due to community discontent and underlying weakness on the part of Goldman rather than racial/ethnic voting.
