We view competing for new work as a place to open a window to our design methodology and values - with less focus on our past finished work and preferring to share our thinking and approach. One way to do this is to consider the design opportunities of the prospective work, build possible stories and open a dialogue of creative thinking with our interviewers.
“Steep Slope Living” is an example of this. The conditions contained challenges but also an exciting potential and the concept models were used as tools to generate conversation. They made visible our view that the site and project have the potential to be more than solving accessibility challenges and slope stabilization. We proposed the site’s topography could be the generator of the architectural expression and provide a unique, lived experience on a hill side.
