The Golden Tee is a mixed-use development located at a busy intersection in West Seattle with dramatic views of the adjacent golf course, Mt. Rainier, and Downtown Seattle.
The proposal mitigates steep site topography by setting into the hillside and creating a stage for social activity. New commercial spaces, a public plaza, and lush landscaping activate the ground floor creating a pedestrian and bike friendly street edge along Avalon Way. The upper-level massing bends away from its next-door neighbors and is carved to provide generous gathering spaces on the ground floor. While keeping the form of the massing simple, the pattern and scale contribute to a unified whole.
Inspiration for the building materials draw from modern golf culture and the project’s proximity to the local West Seattle Golf Club.
