Introduction
SafeInbox AI ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Chrome extension collects, uses, and safeguards your information.
Data Collection
SafeInbox AI operates locally on your device. Only the following data interaction occurs:
1. Message Processing: The extension reads Direct Messages (DMs) from the supported platforms (Twitter/X, LinkedIn, etc.) currently open in your browser tab solely for the purpose of categorizing them (e.g., Priority, Spam, Toxic).
2. No Data Storage: We do not store, transmit, or share your messages or personal data on our servers. All processing is done locally or via the configured AI provider, and no personal data is retained by us.
3. Authentication: If you use an API key for the AI service, it is stored locally in your browser's secure storage (chrome.storage.local) and is used only to authenticate requests to the AI provider.
Permissions Usage
We request the following permissions for the extension to function:
- Storage: To save your user preferences and API keys locally.
- ActiveTab: To interact with the current page when you click the extension icon.
- Alarms: To schedule periodic checks if enabled.
- Host Permissions: To access the messaging interfaces of supported platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) to filter messages.
Third-Party Services
If you choose to connect a third-party AI provider (e.g., OpenAI, Gemini), your message content will be sent to that provider for analysis. Please review their respective privacy policies to understand how they handle data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
