Permissions Used

Simple Home Launcher requests the following Android permissions:

Required Permissions:

1. READ_CONTACTS - To access contact information for emergency contacts

2. CAMERA - To open the camera app via quick actions

3. ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION - To get your location when you manually share it with your caregiver

4. READ_CALENDAR - To display upcoming calendar events

5. QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES - To display all installed apps for selection as favorites

How We Use These Permissions:

• Location: Only accessed when you manually tap "Share Location" button. Your location is sent directly to your designated caregiver's phone number via SMS. We do NOT store or transmit location data to any servers.

• Calendar: Used only to display today's upcoming events. We do NOT access historical calendar data.

• Contacts: Only accessed to populate emergency contact fields when you configure quick actions.

• Query All Packages: Used to display the list of all installed apps so you can select your favorite apps to show on the home screen. This is essential launcher functionality.

Removed Permissions (Google Play Compliance)

As of version 1.3, we have removed the following permissions to comply with Google Play policies:

• ❌ SEND_SMS - Removed (location sharing now opens messaging app for user confirmation)

• ❌ READ_SMS - Removed (unread message count feature removed)

• ❌ READ_CALL_LOG - Removed (missed call count feature removed)

• ❌ CALL_PHONE - Removed (calls now open dialer for user confirmation)

Data Storage

Local Storage Only

• ALL data is stored locally on your device using Android's secure DataStore

• Settings and preferences are saved in encrypted storage on your device

• NO data is transmitted to external servers

• NO cloud storage or backup (unless you use Android's built-in backup feature)

Data Security

• Settings passcode is stored using Android's secure storage mechanisms

• All sensitive data remains on your device

• Data is NOT accessible to other apps (protected by Android's sandboxing)

Data Sharing

We do NOT share any data with third parties.

The ONLY data transmission that occurs is:

• Location sharing: When you manually tap "Share Location", the app opens your device's messaging app with your GPS coordinates pre-filled to send to your designated caregiver's phone number. This uses your device's standard SMS functionality.

• Phone calls: When you tap an emergency or call quick action, the app opens your device's phone dialer with the number pre-filled. You must confirm the call by tapping the dial button.

No other data leaves your device.

Third-Party Services

Simple Home Launcher does NOT use any third-party services, including:

• ✗ No analytics services (Google Analytics, Firebase, etc.)

• ✗ No advertising networks

• ✗ No crash reporting services

• ✗ No cloud storage services

• ✗ No social media integrations

Children's Privacy

Simple Home Launcher does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13 years of age. The app is designed for elderly users and individuals requiring accessibility assistance.

  • Uninstall the app

  • Clear the app's data via Android Settings

  • Factory reset your device

• We do NOT retain any data on external servers
