What it is: A fun, family-friendly, free community bike ride for people of all ages on all types of wheeled devices. This route is a flat 5.4-mile loop that meanders through residential neighborhoods on the west side of town. The route on ridewithgps.
Where: The Ride starts and ends at McNear Park (at 11th and F Streets).
When: The date is Friday, December 19th, 2025. Show up at McNear Park no later than 5:00 pm. The Ride rolls at 5:30 pm sharp.
How long is the Ride? The route is just over 5.4 miles long and takes about one hour start to finish. We expect to be back at McNear Park by 6:30 pm. See the ride route below.
Is the Ride safe for kids? Yes: we have a Special Events Permit from the City of Petaluma and the Ride is fully supported by the Petaluma Police Department. We will be riding slowly and responsibly.
Can I ride a scooter (or a skateboard?) YES!!! The Ride is for people on all types of wheeled devices (bikes, cargo bikes, unicycles, scooters, trikes, e-bikes, mobility scooters, one-wheels, skateboards, motorized wheelchairs, and more).
Can I walk the Ride instead of riding? Hmm, no not really; the pace of the Ride is a bit too fast for walking. But you could run it…..
Is it really free? Yes, the Ride is entirely free for all! We are asking participants to kick in a small donation to help pay for the Ride and for our ongoing work on behalf of Safe Streets but donations are optional. Click here to donate.
Do I have to register? Yes! For insurance reasons, we ask that all participants register. Click here to register.
What if I can’t ride the whole distance? If the pace or the duration are too challenging, you always have the option to join or leave the Ride at any point.
Do I need lights for my bike? Yes, definitely! The Ride will take place after the sun has set. It will be dark. We strongly recommend reliable lights front and back.
Decorating my bike: Bike decorations are highly recommended but optional. One option is using blinky lights from a supplier like Brightz. They’re offering us a 20% discount with the promo code Petaluma2025. (Some local retailers also sell Brightz lights).
What happens if it’s raining? We’re saying “heavy rain cancels.” The Ride will take place if it’s raining lightly, but participation will be limited.
